How many times can I pine by a song?

Air-Sea Dolphin - information

Air-Sea Dolphin is a band by Robert Schneider (of The Apples In Stereo), Matt and Mike Chapman (of Homestar Runner fame), Ryan Sterritt and James Huggins (of Of Montreal).
As of writing this (December 16th, 2022) they have 1 EP, the Exploding EP. However, most places, this will be split into "Exploding / Spillman Was A Motorhead" (A-SD b/w Honey Radar) and the Air-Sea Dolphin / sloshy split (A-SD & sloshy (from Homestar Runner, which A-SD provides the live appearances of, particularly in the 2016 Original Book Anniversary Show.)). Their remarkably short discography has 3 songs:

  • Exploding
  • Bells (Song for Geoff Walden)
  • ASD Theme

To coincide with the release of Bells, they released a game coded in the Scratch engine, where you play as a dolphin and collect bells, while the song plays in the background. It was coded by Schneider's son, Max, based on rough Scratch code and graphics by Matt and Mike Chapman. If you're interested, you can play the Bells game here.

Overall, the band invokes a 90s lo-fi indie-pop feel in their music - the fuzzy guitars and comfortable vocals sound reminiscent to music by Schneider's band The Apples In Stereo, if thats of any surprise to you. The lyrics are also incredibly written, if a bit hard to make out at times. The lyric-free ASD Theme uses an Atari cartridge called Synthcart to make synth-like sounds, among other things, which invokes a retro videogame feeling. Their song Exploding was recorded on 4-track, if that also alludes to anything about the band. It's a comfortable and pleasant discography to listen to, despite its shortness.
